Originally released in 1997, the Nike Air Bakin quickly became one of the most controversial sneakers of all-time. The sneaker was undoubtedly a standout visually with the wavy design of the upper, but what made this sneaker so controversial was found on the heel. Originally the shoe was designed with the word "Air" written on the heel of the shoe in a fiery font, but the design quickly gained negative attention from the Muslim community for its likeness to "Allah" written in Arabic text. This caused Nike to recall the shoe and re-release it with the well-known Nike Air logo. Is there any real controversy to this sneaker? That is for you to decide.
